Fact vs. Fiction: Avon Spends $40,000 a Year on Catering for the Board
“Avon Schools spends $40,000 a year on catering for the Board.”
Don’t believe the chatter. Avon Schools does invest in the Board, but not with catering.
The district spends $400 per Board Member on professional development each year. With five Board members, that’s $2,000 total spent annually to ensure the Board functions in an exemplary fashion.
We know our community cares about how every dollar is spent — and so do we.
In fact, the Avon Board of School Trustees is one of only five Indiana school boards to earn the 2024 Exemplary Governance Award (EGA). This is the highest honor given by the Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA). This award recognizes their outstanding commitment to professional learning and student success.
The decisions made by the Board directly impact students, families, staff, and the future of our schools. Just like teachers and administrators, Board members benefit from learning and growing in their roles. A small investment in training helps ensure the Board stays current on best practices in school leadership, policy, and governance.
