The Oriole Advocates Say YES 4 Avon Schools

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ORIOLE ADVOCATES, INC. ESTABLISHING SUPPORT FOR THE ACSC REFERENDUM RENEWAL
September 3, 2025

WHEREAS, the Avon Community supported a 2018 Operating Referendum focused on reducing class sizes, more competitive pay for teachers, and more opportunities and supports for Avon students.

WHEREAS, the Avon Community School Corporation ("ACSC") School Board passed a resolution to put a renewal referendum on the ballot on November 4, 2025 for public vote.

WHEREAS, the Oriole Advocates exist to lend a voice to the needs of the schools and to support those needs through advocacy.

WHEREAS, the Oriole Advocates have reviewed the efforts of the ACSC administration and the School Board at finding other sources of revenue.

WHEREAS, ACSC will not have adequate funds for quality education due to state funding consistently being below the rate of inflation.

WHEREAS, the community's support of the 2018 Operating Referendum has led to significant improvements in decreased class sizes, competitive salaries to attract and retain high-quality teachers, increased supports and opportunities for students, and improvements in academic achievement at all levels.

WHEREAS, quality education has a direct impact on property values and the appeal of Washington Township to new and existing residents.

WHEREAS, the Oriole Advocates have invested time connecting with local legislators to increase state funding and find that state monies will be insufficient for ACSC needs.

WHEREAS, the only mechanism given by the state to compensate for the loss of funding due to tax caps is a referendum on the local ballot.

WHEREAS, the Board of Oriole Advocates, Inc. finds that a referendum is necessary for the ACSC schools to be properly staffed and students to have sufficient education.

WHEREAS, the Board of Oriole Advocates, Inc. deems it necessary to support ACSC publicly in the referendum attempt.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS:

RESOLVED, that the Oriole Advocates support the referendum renewal as resolved upon by the ACSC School Board;

RESOLVED, that Oriole Advocate members that do not support the referendum may remain members in the case that they continue to be a positive voice for the schools; and

RESOLVED, that the Oriole Advocates will act in whatever way necessary in coordination with a Political Action Committee to support education of the public of the need for a referendum;

IN WITNESS THEREOF, the undersigned, being the Executive Members of the Board of Directors of Oriole Advocates, Inc., have executed this Resolution by unanimous consent as of the date listed above.
